Mariah Carey is riding high with the announcement by Epic Records that the two parties have a new joint partnership.
The venture is between the singer’s recently formed Butterfly MC Records and the Sony Music Entertainment label. This partnership will come as no surprise to those who know that CEO of Epic Records, LA Reid, has a great working and personal relationship with the songstress; this was evident when Carey left Columbia, where she began her recording career, and Reid became the executive producer on her comeback albums The Emancipation of Mimi and E=MC2.
On working with Carey, Reid has said, “to continue working with Mariah Carey at Epic has been another rewarding chapter of my career".
Carey’s business move will prove to be profitable and rewarding, as owning her own subsidiary record label will allow her to have creative control over her new albums, give her higher revenues on her album sales and the ability to sign on new talent.
Here at The Record Box HQ we are very excited to see what comes next from the ever-evolving Mariah Carey - what do you think of the songstresses new venture?
